I was really glad to see the back of March – it seemed to come in like a lion and go out like a polar bear! A thoroughly miserable month resulted in blooms and leaf buds on trees and shrubs being delayed. But when they appeared, they appeared with style and in abundance. My Narcissus ‘Thalia’ (which I must admit puts me in mind of free falling wee ghosties!) have flowered wonderfully well this year. I have three pots of them, which I had meant to lift, divide and re-pot last autumn as they had not produced many flowers for the last two seasons. But, as usual, I didn’t get around to it, and expecting a poor show, I was considering just binning the whole lot and buying some fresh. The threat of imminent destruction worked wonders – I always knew my plants listened to every word I say!
