Encouraging Wildlife – Competition Winners

Congratulations to the winner and five runners-up in the Community Gardening Encouraging Wildlife poster competition. Prizes included a range of wildflower seeds, bird food and bird feeders, and homes for insects. The winning entries were:

First Prize:

  • Amy Donald, Year 7, Ballinamallard Primary School, with ‘Let them in!!!’

Runner-up:

  • Katie-Rose Kelly, P6, Christ the King Primary School, with ‘Don’t make them history’;
  • Siena Fenton, P6, Bush Primary School, with ‘Encourage Wildlife’;
  • Roisin McKenna, P5, St. Ita’s Primary School, with ‘Make your garden better for wildlife’;
  • Chloe Presho, P6, Brookeborough Primary School, with ‘Get buzzing about Biodiversity’, and
  • Laura Mairs, P6, Macosquin Primary School (untitled).

Judging the posters was extremely difficult as the standard of the work was exceptionally high. We hope that the birds and invertebrates greatly benefited from the small addition to their food and shelter provided through the competition.
