Empower Project Summer Scheme:

A two week summer scheme run through the Empower Project included two sessions of ‘Mucky Hands’ on the 2nd and 9th August, in Antrim Forum and Magherafelt NRC. We made some scarecrows and sowed herb seeds. The project is a Big Lottery Funded initiative through the Reaching Out, Supporting Families Programme. The focus of the project is to support children under 12 with Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle to ‘enhance confidence and learn together to develop skills to support their children’. The Empower Project commenced in September 2015 and is a five year project focusing on the Magherafelt and Antrim areas.

The initiative is a partnership by 10 organisations including: DADS (Dyslexia & Dyspraxia Support); Northern Regional College; Magherafelt Learning Partnership; Mid-Ulster District Council; Cookstown & Western Shores Area Network; Autism NI Mid-Ulster Branch; Stars – Autism support group; Education Authority; Magherafelt & Cookstown Volunteer Centre, and CYPSP (Children & Young People’s Strategic Partnership).
